there are Private Investigators (many) and then there are Infidelity Matrimonial Investigators, how many Family Lawyers use Investigators?

Last updated on: February 14, 2020
Half the problem is finding Investigators that can complete a case that may run around the world, or at least the whole of the USA, AND THAT ARE FOR REAL!
The Internet will give you a base to work with, then if you do your own back ground check into the Company (Investigators) you find its a two man opp, they have a office in one state, and the work is less than done correctly? but they charge $20-$35 per hour and at the end of the day "you pay peanuts you get monkeys"

so if your a family Law Attorney...take a look at your Investigator before you get the monkeys?

In Family Law in Syracuse, New York. I never heard of such a thing and agree with Elizabeth's answer. Never heard of such a thing and, frankly, if some billed him or herself that way, after I stopped laughing, I would ask if their previous employment was with Cheaters.

About
I practiced in various areas of law for thirteen years before joining Byrd, Stillinger & Associates as a Sr. Investigator. www.investigatesc.com Criminal defense, adultery, skip trace...

I practiced in Family Court for many years, and am now with a PI firm in Columbia, SC.  Iive never heard of an Infidelity Matrimonial Investigator, but I have to confess it sounds like something someone made up to sound important....but I bet you can get a certificate for it somewhere :-)

While there are some very good solo and two-man teams out there, they are few and far between - but if you go with a "big" company, you get a 1-800 number and subcontracts with monkeys where the company pays peanuts, you pay premium, and you still end up with monkeys.  Good solo and small firm PI's won't work for the amounts you describe.

I hope you find a good firm to work with - there is a page on my company's website that gives suggestions on what to look for to choose a PI - it's written for clients, but attorneys would be wise to take the time to at least research via internet....we get most of our referrals from attorneys, but there are attorneys who are using PI's they've used for years just out of sheer habit  - some are good, some aren't, so while a referral from an attorney is something to consider, I encourage folks to decide for themselves...

Hope this helps - and sorry I didn't have a chance to answer before now!
