Some states have statutes of limitations for probation violations, but others do not. Also, in some cases, the statute of limitations for a probation violation may be tolled, meaning that the time limit is paused or extended. For example, if the person being charged is a fugitive or leaves the state, the statute of limitations may be tolled until they are apprehended or returned to the state. Your best bet is to consult with an experienced criminal defense attorney about your case.
