My yard man of 20 years was involved in a shooting crime and has an appointed attorney who will not return my calls offering to be a character witness.

His trial should be coming up very soon. How can I figure out a way to help this person. I have left three voice mail messages with no reply from the attorney. Is there anything I can do?

About
Criminal defense attorney representing clients facing State & Federal criminal charges.

Here are a few things you can try to do to help him. One option is to reach out to the court and ask to speak to the case's judge or prosecutor. Explain that you would like to be a character witness for him and provide information about your relationship with him. Another option is to write a letter to the attorney or the court describing your relationship with him, his character, and any relevant information that could help his case. If the attorney who is appointed to his case is not responding to your calls, you can try to contact the Public Defender's office that appointed the attorney and ask them to pass on the message to the attorney. You can also reach out to the bar association and ask them to help you reach the attorney. Ultimately, the attorney is the one in charge of the defense, and it's their decision whether to call you as a witness or not.
