Matthew R. Ludowig, Founder of Innova Health Law, is a distinguished healthcare attorney with more than a decade of experience advising clients throughout the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors. His legal career began in 2012, when he served as a civilian prosecutor and tried over forty cases ranging from complex felonies to high-profile matters that drew substantial public and media attention—including one case later featured in Netflix’s Making a Murderer. These early experiences shaped his reputation for strategic thinking, meticulous preparation, and an ability to deliver clear, compelling advocacy in challenging environments.

In 2018, Mr. Ludowig broadened his service to the nation by commissioning as an officer in the United States Air Force Judge Advocate General’s Corps. Over more than seven years of active and reserve duty, he has provided critical legal counsel to Air Force leadership on issues involving ethics, investigations, administrative law, and military justice. His time in the JAG Corps reinforced the importance of integrity, adaptability, and mission-focused legal advice—principles that continue to guide his practice today.

Mr. Ludowig transitioned to private practice in 2020, joining Empower Pharmacy as General Counsel during a period of rapid organizational expansion. In that role, he oversaw legal, regulatory, and compliance operations, navigating complex FDA, DEA, and state pharmacy board requirements while supporting the company’s strategic growth initiatives. His leadership helped strengthen operational processes, mitigate regulatory risk, and enhance cross-departmental compliance culture.

Following his tenure at Empower, Mr. Ludowig became a Partner at Hanszen Laporte, LLP, where he advised a diverse range of healthcare clients - including compounding pharmacies, outsourcing facilities, med spa practices, working as an MSO lawyer, and pharmaceutical distributors—on regulatory strategy, compliance frameworks, transactional matters, and sophisticated compounding-related legal issues.

Today, Mr. Ludowig serves as the Managing Member of Innova Health Law, PLLC. His firm is dedicated to helping clients navigate the increasingly complex and highly regulated landscape of the compounded pharmaceutical industry.
