Former Chief Judge Joel Brown has been practicing law since 1971. He worked as a civil trial lawyer for 19 years before being appointed to the County Court. He then served as Associate Administrative Judge of the County Court, Criminal Traffic Division, and later as the Administrative Judge of the County Court, Criminal Division. During his time as Administrative Judge, Mr. Brown was responsible for the creation of the “Odyssey” program, the first circuit division’s effort to go paperless. Mr. Brown has a Superb Rating on Avvo and has been AV®Preeminent™ Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell®. He is also a prolific speaker and is affiliated with a long list of professional organizations. A native Floridian, Brown holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida School of Law.
