J. Michael Parsons

At one time, attorney J. Michael Parsons was a lawyer who defended employers and insurance companies. But he grew disillusioned working for large corporations. He decided to launch his own law practice devoted to achieving fair compensation for injured workers.

An Atlanta native, Parsons graduated from Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia in 1991, cum laude, with degrees in political science and Spanish. Michael spent a semester abroad at the University of Virginia, Valencia, Spain. He also attended the University of Mississippi School of Law, where he received his J.D. in 1995. In law school, Michael served as Editor for the Mississippi Law Journal and won American Jurisprudence Awards for first in class in Property II, Ethics and Corrections. Michael is licensed to practice law in Mississippi and Georgia.

Over the next eight years, Parsons spent the majority of his time working in firms that defended employers and insurance companies in workers’ compensation and liability claims. Unhappy with the manner in which he saw injured workers being treated, he created the Parsons & Associates, P.C. in 2003. He now focuses his practice on workers’ compensation and products liability litigation.

Parson has obtained significant victories on behalf of his clients. In 2012, Parsons was associate counsel in a complex case involving a workers’ compensation claim. The case involved third-party claims and resulted in a $10-million settlement. His client was severely injured when her vehicle was struck by another driver who lost control of her vehicle after a tire tread separated. Claims were brought against the other driver, the manufacturer of the blown tire, the auto shop mechanics who failed to warn about the condition of the unsafe tire, and the vehicle manufacturer.

In another case, he helped a client obtain a $1.1-million settlement. His client suffered severe back injuries after being rear-ended by an 18-wheel truck.

“I sleep very well at night knowing that I’m helping people get their lives back together after terrible injuries,” Parsons says. “And I like turning the tables on insurance companies.”

His practice keeps him busy, but he finds time in the year to coach youth baseball and soccer. He also enjoys traveling to Caribbean Islands, is an amateur chef and is an avid Atlanta Falcons fan.
