About Gerald Ellersdorfer

Jerry Ellersdorfer has represented insurance companies in major asbestos bankruptcy cases and on related coverage matters. He represents creditors, creditor committees and trustees in bankruptcy proceedings and represents companies in Chapter 11 business reorganizations and non-bankruptcy work-outs. Jerry is also experienced in commercial litigation in state and federal courts. As part of Jerry’s representation of insurance companies in major asbestos bankruptcies (including Federal Mogul and Mid-Valley (Halliburton) cases) he has participated in mediations, adversary proceedings and strategy conferences involving numerous other insurance companies. In this connection he has prepared legal opinions on issues involved and memoranda analyzing allocations and exposure of the insurers under various scenarios. In connection with the representation of an insurer of an insured but defunct company (Kentile Floors) Jerry participates in regularly scheduled conferences with defense counsel and other insurers to evaluate potential liability and recommend settlement of pending cases. In prior associations Jerry has litigated business law cases, pursued commercial collections, represented companies in bankruptcy matters and represented a major San Francisco real estate owner. He was formerly a partner in the firm of Niesar, Cecchini & Ellersdorfer.
