About Edward Alan Harmon

Edward Alan Harmon is an associate with Sidley Austin LLP.    Edward (Alan) Harmon is a litigation associate in the firm’s Chicago and Washington, D.C. office who concentrates his practice in complex commercial litigation, white-collar criminal defense work, and antitrust matters.

Mr. Harmon has assisted with the firm’s representation of clients in connection with complex telecommunications and trade secret litigation as well as disputes over executive compensation, and has helped defend companies sued for antitrust violations in front of federal courts and the Federal Trade Commission. He also has assisted in the defense of a client accused of conspiracy to commit accounting fraud and in various other litigation matters.

Mr. Harmon also has given his time to pro bono work on child custody matters and prisoner rights litigation.

Honors and Awards

Mr. Harmon received a Certificate of Appreciation from the District Court for the District of Columbia in recognition of valuable services rendered as a member of the civil pro bono panel.

 He is a member of the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee of Chicago Youth Centers. He is also a member of the firm’s Partner Compensation Committee, Corporate Opinion Committee, and Associate Evaluation Committee.

Mr. Harmon regularly participates at various industry, client, and firm-sponsored events covering topics related to corporate finance and the debt capital markets.

Recent events include presenting as a panel member for the “State of the Finance Markets,” sponsored by the Center for Corporate Leadership, the Commercial Finance Association, and the Illinois CPA society, as the session chair and a faculty member presenting on “Options in a Limited Credit Environment” at the Northwestern Law Executive and Professional Education’s Annual Corporate Counsel Institute, and an interview in Gold Sheets, a Thompson Reuters LPC publication, about the effects of current financial regulatory reform legislation on the loan market.
