Can I talk to the DA. About my child's case if he is in jail? Can I try to make a deal like attorneys do or would I make it worse for my child? Thanks

About
Criminal defense attorney representing clients facing State & Federal criminal charges.

As a non-attorney, you may face challenges when advocating for your child's interests in a juvenile case. Attorneys have the legal knowledge and experience to effectively negotiate with the District Attorney (DA) and to advocate for your child's interests in court. They also have the ability to understand the legal process and potential consequences of the case and can help you and your child understand the strengths and weaknesses of the case against them. That being said, it's important to remember that as a parent, you have the right to speak to the DA and to advocate for your child's interests. You can also work with an attorney to help advocate for your child and make informed decisions about the best course of action for your child. A parent's input and advocacy for their child can also be a valuable asset for the defense attorney. They can provide information about the child's background, behavior, and family dynamics that may be helpful in court and can also help in creating a mitigation narrative for the court.
