Mr. Gassman's practice covers a variety of areas involving complex and multiparty litigation including property subrogation, fire litigation, negligence, breach of contract, wrongful death, insurance coverage disputes and maritime disasters. Prior to joining Asperger Associates LLC, Mr. Gassman spent nine years litigating cases involving construction negligence, professional malpractice, product liability, insurance coverage disputes, employment discrimination and commercial disputes. Mr. Gassman is an experienced trial lawyer who has tried several cases to verdict, including a recent dispute in which his clients were awarded a record $39.5 million jury verdict. Mr. Gassman has also successfully resolved hundreds of cases through arbitration and settlement. Mr. Gassman has authored trial and appellate briefs on a variety of issues. Mr. Gassman earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. He received his Juris Doctorate degree in 1996 from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Gassman was appointed Justice of The John Marshall Law School Moot Court Executive Board and was a member of the National Product Liability Moot Court Team. He was also awarded “Best Brief” in the Fred F. Herzog Moot Court Competition. Mr. Gassman is a member of the Illinois State Bar, the Federal Bar of the Northern District of Illinois, and the Federal Trial Bar for the Northern District of Illinois. Mr. Gassman’s practice includes cases in state and federal courts in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri and New York.
