About Allyson Kitchel

I’ve spent nearly two decades litigating personal injury cases in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. I started my career clerking for a trial judge in DC, where I learned how judges think and what makes a case persuasive. I then spent years defending drivers, doctors, and corporations—experience that now gives me a unique advantage when I stand up for injured people and their families.

My perspective changed forever when my husband was seriously injured in a bike crash. I saw firsthand how overwhelming the aftermath of an accident can be, and how much it matters to have a lawyer who genuinely listens and takes the burden off your shoulders. That experience is why my practice today is entirely devoted to helping victims feel seen, supported, and protected during some of the hardest moments of their lives.

Personal Injury

I represent people whose lives have been disrupted by someone else’s negligence. Whether the harm comes from a dangerous driver, a careless doctor, or a business that failed to prioritize safety, my job is to handle the insurance companies, the paperwork, and the litigation so you can focus on healing. I’m known for being thorough, direct, and relentless when the facts call for it.

Car Accidents

Car crashes can throw a person’s life into chaos—medical bills, missed work, pain, and uncertainty about what comes next. Because I once defended drivers and insurance companies, I know exactly how they evaluate claims and where they cut corners. I use that inside knowledge to protect my clients and make sure nothing gets overlooked or undervalued.

Bicycle Accidents

As a cyclist myself—and the spouse of a rider who survived a serious crash—I understand these cases on a deeply personal level. I know the roads, I know the risks, and I know how often drivers fail to give cyclists the space and respect they deserve. I combine legal experience with lived experience to hold negligent drivers accountable and to help injured cyclists regain stability and confidence.

Pedestrian Accidents

Pedestrians are the most vulnerable people on the road. When a driver isn’t paying attention, the consequences are often devastating. I handle the investigation, evidence gathering, and negotiations so my clients don’t have to relive the trauma alone. My focus is always on securing the resources they need for a full and meaningful recovery.

Medical Malpractice

Medical negligence cases require patience, precision, and deep attention to detail. Because I once defended doctors and hospitals, I know how these cases are built—and how they’re defended. I work closely with trusted medical experts to uncover what went wrong and why, and I stand by my clients every step of the way as we pursue answers and accountability.

Wrongful Death

When a family loses someone because of negligence, the grief is overwhelming. I guide families through the legal process with compassion and clarity, handling the hard conversations and deadlines while protecting their right to justice. My goal is to honor their loved one’s story and help secure the financial stability needed to move forward.

I’ve earned recognition as a Super Lawyer in Washington, DC, and I hold Martindale-Hubbell’s AV Preeminent rating for the highest level of professional excellence. My experience on both sides of the courtroom—and my determination to do right by every client—have allowed me to achieve strong results in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

Outside the office, I live in Ward 6 with my husband and our three boys. When I’m not practicing law, I’m usually biking around the neighborhood, on the sidelines at a soccer field, or volunteering in our community.
